Congratulations are in order for new Legend Gwennyth, who recorded her 1000th event! She joins son Andrew in the top rank of the Millennium Club. We also paid tribute to Ian S, for whom this was his 1500th event, and he is the 8th person to achieve this feat.
This was quite a tricky course by Suzanne, and not dissimilar to the one she set a few weeks ago – a nice selection within reach for the walkers and short course runners, with the outliers providing quite a challenge for A course. Distances were deceptive and I was cursing myself after heading off for 16 and 19 – nice points, but quite a distance, resulting in a drop of other high pointers that were much closer. I notice a lot of people returned late, no doubt over-committing themselves.
Paul was the only one to score 70 points, to win A course from Ian, Warwick, Bruce and Thor. Paul is now the fifth person this series to win A, so there is certainly no favourite at this point. Ian won B course with 53 points, ahead of steven, Ewen, Reg, and Peter D. The Girls took out PW with 51 points, narrowly beating Peter B. Next were Lauris, Dale, and Malcolm.
We’re nearing the half way point of the Spring Carnival Series. A1 saw some changes with Ian and Paul moving into the placings behind ladder leader Warwick. Rick, Vic and Roger still lead A2. A3 now sees Robert, Mark B and Ian G in the placings, while once again Phil, Suzanne and Pamela lead A4. On B1, Ian has opened up a 4 point gap on Steven, with Peter D remaining in third. Peter M, Reg and Denise still hold top spots on B2, but Judi and Graham are snapping at their heels. No change this week on B3 for me, Pete, and Pierre.
Lauris continues to lead PW1 with Mark second, and The Girls now third and looking dangerous. Status quo on PW2 for Lyn, Ian S, and Bernie. Gwennyth, Allan and Pat retained their places on PW3, and Pam, Lara and Linh remain the leaders of PW4.
Join us next Wednesday at Mullauna in Mitcham.
