Croydon EndurO Results

A glorious day greeted our intrepid competitors, quite a few of whom had rogained the day before (hats off to you lot!) Course setter Ian did an excellent job of providing an interesting challenge for everyone, with plenty on offer for the 75 min competitors, and a difficult assignment for any 2 hour competitors who fancied their chances of scoring the elusive 1000 points.  The hills were gentle, until you crossed Bayswater Road. Did you notice some of the answers?  I’m pretty sure that Josie did not teach Pilates at no 11, that Reverend Ian Greenwood does not have his name on a plaque at no 39, and that the Yeates Veterans soccer club does not play at no 44!  And hopefully orienteers are welcome to visit no 46.

Results are here.  Congratulations to overall winner Ian D, who made a dramatic entrance at the finish table after his exertions. Ian covered 21 kms in 1 hour 59 minutes 45 seconds, and scored 820 points.  Second was Jim T on 760, narrowly ahead of Jim G on 750.  On the 120 min PW course, Michael and Robert tied on 530 points, but Michael returned first so got the 100 points.  Lyn put in a great effort for third with 500 points.

In the 75 minute category the action was fast and furious with Tim taking first place on 545 points, well clear of Phil on 430 and Geoff on 415.  It was a family double when Liz won the 75 min PW course with 240, ahead of Pat and Christine, both on 225.

After 5 events, we’ve produced a “best of 3” overall series result (course setters have been given their average).  So if you’ve done 2 EndurOs, make sure you come along to no 6 in October to qualify.  Over 220 people have competed in at least one EndurO.  The two Jims are tied at the top of 120 min Runners, with 293 points apiece, and Alex a mere point behind.  Andrew is holding off Michael on 120 min Walkers with a narrow 2 point margin, with Anne, Robert and Lyn all vying for third.  On 75 min Runners, Geoff is 5 points ahead of Dennis, who is 3 points ahead of Deb, so that’s another close contest.  On 75 min Walkers, Pat has a handy lead over Ian B, and Liz is in third place.
